Our First Anniversary

Before I write anything more I must say... I have the best gift giver/ surprise day planner as a husband!! He always out does me on gifts. ALWAYS!! Not that I am complaining but I feel bad sometimes. We had decided not to get each other anything for our anniversary but that we would just go spend the day together doing something instead. However, my husband being that best gift giver that he is, surprised me in the morning with a Kitchen Aid. He said he had to get it just because he wanted me to have it. In return, I attempted to make cookies that night for him. Too bad they didn't turn out great. Do you see what I mean when I say my gifts always look bad haha?!?! It doesn't stop there though... the night before our anniversary he says, do you want me to tell you now or surprise you tomorrow? I of course say tell me! So he tells me he has planned for us to go to the spa for the day and get couples massages and then after we would go to Texas de Brazil in Town Square for dinner. I was thrilled!!!

The whole "anniversary" day was fantastic! (except my sister going into the hospital, glad she is okay now) The massages were awesome as always. We got there early so that we could enjoy the spa, steam room, and saunas. It was quite, nice, and relaxing. After the massages, we drove in the pouring rain to Town Square. On the way we saw this beautiful rainbow. I was excited to have gotten a picture. By the time we got to dinner, we were early but the rain had let up so we walked around for a bit. Dinner was an experience. The food was delicious but the salad bar was better! All of the meat coming out constantly was a bit overwhelming because you wanted to try everything but at the same time your plate was so full already. We have discovered the key at a Brazilian steak house and that is to pace yourself haha! Since it was our anniversary, we also got a free dessert. We chose the triple chocolate cake and that was to die for!!

I enjoyed every minute and appreciated all of the thought that Josh had put into making it a great day for us. I can not believe that a year has passed. We have accomplished so much in a year and I am looking forward to the many more to come!!

Happy 1st Anniversary Josh! I love you!

Way Over Due Sister-In-Law Time

The last week in September, I went to Utah to see Tauni and Chris. It had been just about a year since I actually got to visit with them for more than a couple hours. The whole trip was sooo much fun. We were busy the whole time and felt like there wasn't enough hours in the day. The trip made me wish we lived closer so that we could do these things more often. I tried to convince them to move back but they weren't changing their minds. :( On a happier note... this is how our week went:

Wednesday:
I got in at night. They were there at baggage claim waiting!! The anticipation of the walk to baggage claim was killing me. It seemed like it took forever. We went to Blue Iguana there in Salt Lake for dinner. It was a Mexican restaurant that was delicious. When we got to their house we watched Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, and Hells Kitchen. It was good to just get to hang out and watch tv again. It had been FOREVER!

Thursday:
Thursday was a busy day. Mainly because we didn't get out of our pajamas until 12:30! Time flies when your talking girl talk! The first thing we did was go see Easy A. We thought it was okay, it had its funny parts. After that we were on our way to Hobby Lobby. Tauni was a first timer! There we bought material to make her curtains for her kitchen, laundry room, and office. Then to Wal-Mart and then to Rodworks. After we headed back to the house and waited for Chris to get home. We had our left overs for dinner and then decided to make some goodies for dessert (loaded brownies and peanut butter balls)! So we went to Wal-Mart again. Chris enjoyed playing Madden while us girls baked. We enjoyed our goodies while we visited and then headed to bed.

Friday:
The day started at IKEA. I was wishing I could buy everything in the store. We then headed up to Provo to meet up with Tauni's mom. The 3 of us went for way over due pedicures. Afterwards we headed to a Chick-Fil-A. We both were first timers. It was delicious and actually tasted like real chicken haha. We hurried home to pick up Chris and off to the Brad Paisley concert we went. Darius Rucker opened for him and was awesome!  While we were waiting for the concert, Chris found this dragon fly on his shoe. I thought it was pretty cool we got a picture of it. The concert was at an outdoor venue and you just bring blankets, hang out, and listen to the concert. We had a great night out!

Saturday:
Saturday was our craft day. We woke up, made breakfast, and started working on all of her curtains. The house looked like a tornado ran through it. Chris woke up just as we were finishing which was good because there was really no place for him to sit. All of the curtains turned out cute. After the curtains were done, we decided it was time to finally get ready for the day. haha! We sent Chris to the store for a few things and I did her hair and she did mine. When Chris got home, Tauni even attempted to straighten his hair. He didn't go for it. We made dinner, Ribs and Potatoes. Shortly after, Tauni's family came over for a bit just to say hi. We didn't get to visit much because we had tickets to Hairspray!!! This was so exciting for me! It is my favorite musical and the academy there did a great job of putting it on. After the musical, we decided to go bowling. We put ourselves to a challenge that after every frame we had to strike a pose. There are pictures of every pose but I just posted a few. It was a fun little challenge and it made the game go by so fast. We just headed home after that.
Sunday:
This day came way too fast! We made every minute count but deep down knew tomorrow (the day I left) was quickly approaching. We started our day off with a movie. This time we went to see You Again. That was also okay. It just wasn't as good as we thought it was going to be. After that we attempted to go to this burger place that they don't have here in Vegas but it was closed. I was so bummed but we just added it to our list of things to do next time. Instead we came home and hung out. Watched a little bit of football and visited. Chris ended up falling a sleep and we couldn't wake him up for anything. We decided to head to the Apline Loop without him. The Alpine Loop had an accident in it but we just took a scenic drive up through the mountains. All the leaves were starting to change which always looks so beautiful. We came across this little furry catapiller while we were up there. After 2 hours, we headed back home. We ate dinner, watched Amazing Race, and then prolonged the night talking as much as we could. Then off to pack and bed we went.

Our visit went incredibly fast :( I hated having to leave her but I did miss Josh. I keep hassling her to find out when she can find time off to come down and see me. Massages and Stoneys are on the list for her visit here. I can't wait!

Camping with The Larsens

In the middle of September, Josh and I met Chris and Jessica up in Utah at Panguitch Lake. The weather was beautiful. A little warm during the day and a little chilly at night. Okay so a little more than chilly. The low was 43 degrees. burrr! We had an awesome campsite with a view of the lake just a few steps away. All of us enjoyed the break away from reality for a few days. It was my first time camping in a tent and I really like it. I can't wait to do it again. Hopefully for more than a couple days next time. Here are some highlights of the trip:

We took this picture with the 10 sec self timer in place. I set it on a post across the road. We all took our places. Josh pushed the button and ran!! We did it though and it is one of my favorite pictures. I was lucky to have got Chris in that field of bushes. More to come on why?!?
Our view just a few steps away from our site.
This is Chris wondering "WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?!?" Apparently, he is very scared of bugs, insects, and anything else that can buzz by him. He is especially scared of yellow jackets after he researched them on Wikipedia before coming haha. He had us laughing so hard at times we were crying. I couldn't breath laughing so hard. I really did try to hold it in once because I knew he really was scared but I just couldn't. We even have some video. It is just at funny to watch the 2nd and 3rd time. HAHA! A funny fact about this picture, he was freaking out and there was absolutely nothing there!

This was the view on Saturday morning before everyone woke up. I love this picture and I am not sure why. I like when Josh wears his boots and I think that is what I like about this picture!
Note: I was up earlier than everyone else because my husband doesn't "girl" camp. Which means no air mattress. Well I thought I would be ok but apparently I need girl camping. He doesn't have any idea how it feels to have rock in your chest while you are trying to sleep.

Right down the hill from our campsite there was this little stream. We all went on a little hike down the hill and got some good pictures of us couples. Something about the fresh air and running stream water is so relaxing.

Jessica took a nap that afternoon and I hung out with the guys. I listened to them talk school. We watched Chris try and study. I gave Josh a nice foot rub. Even was kind enough to floss between his toes with his socks to get all the sock fuzz out. Nothing but true love in this marriage.

Josh was like a little kid in the tent. He liked playing with the fan/light and peeking his head out of the front of the tent. No peek a boo though haha!

We played Rummy later in the afternoon. It wasn't Chris' first time but he could have fooled us. He was so confused. I'm not quite sure if he even got it after we were finished playing. Him being so confused was in my favor because he just kept throwing down all the cards I needed and I won. Through out the game, we ate and ate and ate but still had room for dinner shortly after.

Josh made us a campfire. Camping isn't camping with out one. We had chili dogs and mac and cheese for dinner. Josh did a great job of cooking with what tools we had. It was the first time I had roasted hot dogs and they were delicious! We also made smores. Jessica had got a smores kit for her bridal shower and it had the biggest marshmallows we had ever seen. They were probably about 3 inches big. They were messy but tasty! Chris liked laughing at everyones marshmallow faces.

We went home on Sunday. Josh and I were all packed up before Chris and Jessica were even up I think. We stopped off for a little scenic view and pictures. The leaves were starting to change and it was beautiful! Orange, red, and yellow leaves are what make me love Fall!

Domestic Divas Sweets and Treats

A few months ago, my friend Jessica and I decided to start taking cake classes. We started the first week in September and have already completed the Decorating Basics Course. We start again on Monday but going on Wednesdays also for a Fondant and Gum Paste & Flower Design class.

I have really been enjoying the classes and have even took it to the next level by making cakes for some birthdays. I call the small business Domestic Divas Sweets and Treats! Josh's Aunt Jamie made this awesome logo for me...

I think it is so cute! She always does a great job. I put it on top of the cake boxes when I deliver them!! I have also had shirts and business cards made too with this so cute logo on them! The first cake I made for class was baseball themed for my brother in laws 13th birthday! I'm pretty sure it was a hit for him. He said it was the best cake he ever had *wink*wink* The other 2 put in there request for there birthday cakes too!

Here are some other ones I have made for some birthdays:

I have a couple more orders coming up that I am excited about. A ladybug cupcake order for a little girls birthday and hopefully a 3 tier cake for a nail salons 10th anniversary!
