My Trip To Salt Lake City

So this was probably the quickest but longest trip ever. Let me explain...So I left school early on Saturday because I heard the weather wasn't all that great and a little after Beaver the bad weather hit. It was snowing!!! I have never drove on the snow but I tell you it was the craziest and scariest thing ever. It felt as if I was on that Star Wars ride at Disneyland where you go through the galaxy. The snow was going by so fast that I felt like I was at a stand still. Jaclyn, in the passengers seat, thought this was funny because I was so overwhelmed by all this and reassuring me that it's OK. We finally got to the hotel and went to bed.
Sunday:
We woke up. Began our journey to go to the soccer game, which was the whole reason we drove 6 hours. I was following my mom because she was going to leave straight from the game to go home. While we were driving on the freeway, she hit a brick as she was switching lanes. This brick took a huge chunk out of the rim.

So we both pulled over and I changed my first tire all by myself. (thanks to my dad!) Next we went to find a tire shop that was open on Sundays. There were only 2 places. Neither of them could help for one reason or the other. Our only option was to wait until Monday to get to Discount Tires where the rim was originally bought. After all this, we got to the game only to watch the second half. (Got some great pictures though)

My dad called during the game and told me to hand over the keys to my car since my mom had to be home by tomorrow and I was to take his to Discount the next day. So that's what we did. The rest of the day we went shopping at The Gateway. I love that place.

Checked into our 4 star hotel for just $50 (thanks to Jodie...teaching me about priceline.com bidding). Took the TRAX to the temple square. I couldn't go to SLC and not stop there. It is so peaceful and gorgeous.

Took TRAX back to The Gateway for dinner at Applebee's. Ate. Went back to hotel and crashed.

Monday:

Got up @ 7:30. Checked out. Got to Discount Tires @ 8:15. They told me that there was one rim but of course not at that location and that they would have it delivered sometime that morning. I didn't want to take the car and go somewhere because I wanted to be right there when that rim showed up. Breakfast, 1/2 a movie, doll house accessory shopping, and 3 hours later the rim is delivered and on. All free of charge let me add :) Then we went to Bridal Vile Falls, which is about 10 minutes outside of Orem. Got great photos but that makes for a whole other posting in its self. Was on the road at 1:15 and didn't get home until 8:30 due to construction, traffic, and 2 potty stops.

Overall the trip wasn't too bad. I love Salt Lake. It was so pretty when all the leaves are changing and the air is cold and crisp. I would do it all over again minus the tire issue :)

  1. Salt Lake is nice and calm, its wonderful! I would have had a hard time driving thru snow, I was freaking out when we had to drive thru fog in the Cajon pass going to San Diego and I was a passenger, scares the crap out of me! I am a very bad passenger when it comes to drama...I don't know what I would have done, kudos to you! I have never changed a tire before, I guess that is why I married a mechanic! LOL
