We put up our Christmas Tree the other night and after wards I decided to start a new little tradition...

To take a picture in front of it right when we were done!

October BirthDAYs

Yes the title reads right with DAY all in capital letters. October 30th/31st is a big day in Josh and I's family. It is Josh's dad, my Grandpa, and my cousin's birthday!! This year all of them were celebrated on the same day. We started the day celebrating my grandpa and cousin's birthday at Mimi's Cafe for brunch. I just ordered a muffin knowing lunch was on the schedule for Dave's bday. I made them a Halloween birthday cake. My cousin enjoyed the witch's hat made out of rice crispies. I must say it was almost too cute to eat.

After it was time to head to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch for Dave's birthday! We passed the time while waiting for our food by playing scrabble with Aunt Connie via IPhone and opening his gifts. We got him Big Bang Theory Season 3. He was leaving right after lunch to catch a plane to Dallas so at least he had something good to watch during the flight. I enjoyed my Cajun Chicken Little for lunch and finished it off with some cheesecake. Dave made sure to tell the waiter that it was his birthday so that he could get some cheesecake too haha. He got sang "Happy Birthday" and a nice plate with it written in chocolate. It took me a couple picture to get a nice one.

Happy Birthday Dad, Grandpa, and Skeeter!

Halloween: Family Style!!

I love getting together with our family for the holidays. Sometimes its tough to split the time between both but we do and we wouldn't trade it for the world. Halloween is pretty easy because Josh's family does their annual pumpkin carving party the week before Halloween every year. We always have the same thing for dinner and everyone looks forward to this day (well at least the girls do)! Soup in bread bowls!! Chicken and Wild Rice, Zuppa Toscana, and Broccoli and Cheese. After dinner, we stuff our faces with a bunch of desserts. This year I made mini carmel apples. There were also donut eyeballs, browines, cupcakes, and I am sure I am missing something. The kids all bring their pumpkins over and they do such a great job of carving them. This year we had a Hello Kitty and a Mickey Mouse. Jen then lines them all up for a picture. It takes them a little while but she seems to always get one good one...
I took this picture from her craft blog. If you haven't already, go check it out... eighteen25! There is lots of fun crafts, giveaways, and recipes on there!!

On Halloween night, we normally head over to my parent's. I go trick or treating with some family friends kids while Josh watches the Bulls game. This year though, Josh had to work and the Bulls didn't play so he didn't get to come. I headed over there early and Kalah and I helped my cousin carve her pumpkin. Us girls then sat around on the couch and watch the Halloweentown marathon on the Disney channel. I may be getting older but not too old to watch my favorite Disney Halloween movies! Brandi, my cousin, decided to stay and go trick or treating with us so Kalah and I put her together this cute little 80's costume! 80's was the theme this year around their house. Kalah was an 80's Madonna. She was off to a Halloween party that night and her costume looked great! Tarin didn't dress up this year. Maybe next year! My mom made us some carmel apples and her traditional Mac and Cheese for dinner. (I just realized that both families have a traditional Halloween meal. How funny!) Then after dinner, I go sit outside with my mom and hand out candy. So many cute little trick or treaters every year. We had tons this year. We went through 16 bags of candy like it was nothing!

Now the Holiday Season Begins... Josh and I bought our first Christmas presents today :)

First Halloween at Our House

This was our first Halloween in our house. I loved decorating for the holiday!! I made a couple of new things for decorations, a wreath, ghosts, and EEK frames. Halloween is now my favorite holiday to decorate for even though my fall/thanksgiving decor is pretty darn cute! I was also very excited to put my banner up that I had made a couple years ago...

The weekend before Halloween we had our friends over to carve pumpkins. We all went to the pumpkin patch together. It was Josh and Sabrina's first time visiting a patch. The rest of us had been but it had been a while. I thought it was so funny that the pumpkin patch was advertising Christmas Trees already. Can we please get through Halloween and Thanksgiving first? After all the pumpkins were picked, we head back to the house for hamburgers, funnel cakes, and pumpkin carving!! I saved all the chunks from the pumpkins and made homemade pumpkin pie. Making it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I guess it tasted delicious, I don't know, I don't like pumpkin pie haha that's just what I was told. All the pumpkins turned out awesome when they were lit! We will definitely have to do this again next year and next time make sure the Larsens, Mike, Eric, and Racquel's boyfriend, James can be there. Also by that time our group of friends will have a little addition. Jeff and Amber are having a baby boy that is due at the end of this month! We all can't wait to meet him. The first baby of our group friends :)

(note to self: if pumpkin rots before Halloween throw it out. it will leave a mold stain on your concrete)

Our First Anniversary

Before I write anything more I must say... I have the best gift giver/ surprise day planner as a husband!! He always out does me on gifts. ALWAYS!! Not that I am complaining but I feel bad sometimes. We had decided not to get each other anything for our anniversary but that we would just go spend the day together doing something instead. However, my husband being that best gift giver that he is, surprised me in the morning with a Kitchen Aid. He said he had to get it just because he wanted me to have it. In return, I attempted to make cookies that night for him. Too bad they didn't turn out great. Do you see what I mean when I say my gifts always look bad haha?!?! It doesn't stop there though... the night before our anniversary he says, do you want me to tell you now or surprise you tomorrow? I of course say tell me! So he tells me he has planned for us to go to the spa for the day and get couples massages and then after we would go to Texas de Brazil in Town Square for dinner. I was thrilled!!!

The whole "anniversary" day was fantastic! (except my sister going into the hospital, glad she is okay now) The massages were awesome as always. We got there early so that we could enjoy the spa, steam room, and saunas. It was quite, nice, and relaxing. After the massages, we drove in the pouring rain to Town Square. On the way we saw this beautiful rainbow. I was excited to have gotten a picture. By the time we got to dinner, we were early but the rain had let up so we walked around for a bit. Dinner was an experience. The food was delicious but the salad bar was better! All of the meat coming out constantly was a bit overwhelming because you wanted to try everything but at the same time your plate was so full already. We have discovered the key at a Brazilian steak house and that is to pace yourself haha! Since it was our anniversary, we also got a free dessert. We chose the triple chocolate cake and that was to die for!!

I enjoyed every minute and appreciated all of the thought that Josh had put into making it a great day for us. I can not believe that a year has passed. We have accomplished so much in a year and I am looking forward to the many more to come!!

Happy 1st Anniversary Josh! I love you!

Way Over Due Sister-In-Law Time

The last week in September, I went to Utah to see Tauni and Chris. It had been just about a year since I actually got to visit with them for more than a couple hours. The whole trip was sooo much fun. We were busy the whole time and felt like there wasn't enough hours in the day. The trip made me wish we lived closer so that we could do these things more often. I tried to convince them to move back but they weren't changing their minds. :( On a happier note... this is how our week went:

Wednesday:
I got in at night. They were there at baggage claim waiting!! The anticipation of the walk to baggage claim was killing me. It seemed like it took forever. We went to Blue Iguana there in Salt Lake for dinner. It was a Mexican restaurant that was delicious. When we got to their house we watched Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, and Hells Kitchen. It was good to just get to hang out and watch tv again. It had been FOREVER!

Thursday:
Thursday was a busy day. Mainly because we didn't get out of our pajamas until 12:30! Time flies when your talking girl talk! The first thing we did was go see Easy A. We thought it was okay, it had its funny parts. After that we were on our way to Hobby Lobby. Tauni was a first timer! There we bought material to make her curtains for her kitchen, laundry room, and office. Then to Wal-Mart and then to Rodworks. After we headed back to the house and waited for Chris to get home. We had our left overs for dinner and then decided to make some goodies for dessert (loaded brownies and peanut butter balls)! So we went to Wal-Mart again. Chris enjoyed playing Madden while us girls baked. We enjoyed our goodies while we visited and then headed to bed.

Friday:
The day started at IKEA. I was wishing I could buy everything in the store. We then headed up to Provo to meet up with Tauni's mom. The 3 of us went for way over due pedicures. Afterwards we headed to a Chick-Fil-A. We both were first timers. It was delicious and actually tasted like real chicken haha. We hurried home to pick up Chris and off to the Brad Paisley concert we went. Darius Rucker opened for him and was awesome!  While we were waiting for the concert, Chris found this dragon fly on his shoe. I thought it was pretty cool we got a picture of it. The concert was at an outdoor venue and you just bring blankets, hang out, and listen to the concert. We had a great night out!

Saturday:
Saturday was our craft day. We woke up, made breakfast, and started working on all of her curtains. The house looked like a tornado ran through it. Chris woke up just as we were finishing which was good because there was really no place for him to sit. All of the curtains turned out cute. After the curtains were done, we decided it was time to finally get ready for the day. haha! We sent Chris to the store for a few things and I did her hair and she did mine. When Chris got home, Tauni even attempted to straighten his hair. He didn't go for it. We made dinner, Ribs and Potatoes. Shortly after, Tauni's family came over for a bit just to say hi. We didn't get to visit much because we had tickets to Hairspray!!! This was so exciting for me! It is my favorite musical and the academy there did a great job of putting it on. After the musical, we decided to go bowling. We put ourselves to a challenge that after every frame we had to strike a pose. There are pictures of every pose but I just posted a few. It was a fun little challenge and it made the game go by so fast. We just headed home after that.
Sunday:
This day came way too fast! We made every minute count but deep down knew tomorrow (the day I left) was quickly approaching. We started our day off with a movie. This time we went to see You Again. That was also okay. It just wasn't as good as we thought it was going to be. After that we attempted to go to this burger place that they don't have here in Vegas but it was closed. I was so bummed but we just added it to our list of things to do next time. Instead we came home and hung out. Watched a little bit of football and visited. Chris ended up falling a sleep and we couldn't wake him up for anything. We decided to head to the Apline Loop without him. The Alpine Loop had an accident in it but we just took a scenic drive up through the mountains. All the leaves were starting to change which always looks so beautiful. We came across this little furry catapiller while we were up there. After 2 hours, we headed back home. We ate dinner, watched Amazing Race, and then prolonged the night talking as much as we could. Then off to pack and bed we went.

Our visit went incredibly fast :( I hated having to leave her but I did miss Josh. I keep hassling her to find out when she can find time off to come down and see me. Massages and Stoneys are on the list for her visit here. I can't wait!
