Dad's Birthday Week!!

My Dad's week is not quite over yet but it seems ever since Josh's birthday these birthday weeks are becoming more common. On Saturday, we had a swim party at my aunts house. For his birthday the whole family pitched into get him this:

And ever since Saturday night our living room has looked like this:

On Wednesday, his real birthday, we are going to Macayo's for dinner and then this weekend he wants to go camping for his birthday. So my family and some friends are going up to Mt. Charleston for the weekend to camp. This will also be a first for my family. We have never been hard core camping with tents and all. It will be interesting but it should be fun! After this weekend... that will conclude his birthday week. Happy Birth"week" Dad!

A Double Feature

On Friday night, my family and I went to see The Dark Knight and my mom and I stayed for Mamma Mia after. Both of these movies were awesome!! I would recommend anyone to see them. Of course Mamma Mia was a little more of a chick flick, but The Dark Knight is a great date night movie. I have to admit I am a little bit of a scardy cat...I was glad I saw Mamma Mia after Batman because Heath Ledger might have gave me nightmares.

What's for Dinner?
On Monday night, my mom started fixing chicken for dinner. She realized she had just cooked chicken the night before and I also had chicken the night before at the Sedillo's so we decided to have this for dinner instead:
BREAKFAST

This is a first time for the Minter household. We have never had breakfast for dinner or at least that I can remember.

A Week @ the Beach

Once a year my family meets up in Pismo Beach for a week. We try and do something new every year. We haven't ran out of things just yet. Here is how the week played out:

Saturday: We left Vegas @ 5am and got to Pismo about 6 hours later. The first thing we did was go to the fruit farm. The fruit farm is right across from the trailer park so we go there often. It also is a petting zoo. There were baby goats this year. They were so cute. We just hung out at the trailer all day awaiting the delicious chicken kabobs we had for dinner that night and the home-made ice cream. It was so yummy! That was it for day 1.

Sunday: My sister, Kalah, my dad, my uncle, Nick, and my brother, Josh went deep sea fishing that morning so the girls (My sister, Tarin, my mom, my aunt Laurie and LeAnn, the twins, my sister-in-law, LeAnn, her mom, and I) went shopping in downtown San Luis Obispo. We had quite the crew tagging along. We went down the bubble gum alley (1 of the new things we saw) and place our gum on the walls. While walking down the street I noticed this warning on the side of the building it read: This is a unreinforced masonry building. You may be unsafe inside or near unreinforced masonry buildings during a earthquake. I laughed and thought how reassuring. ha ha. Met everyone at the trailer for a big fish fry. The guys caught an amazing 42 fish on the excursion. Dad and I played horseshoes. I won! We waited until it got dark and took a walk on the beach and saw a huge jelly fish. We headed back to the trailer for s'mores. Stuffed our faces and called it a night.

Monday: We woke up to Pismo's famous cinnamon rolls that my mom and dad got us. We got dressed and attempted our first day at the beach. It is not usually an attempt to enjoy it but this time it was. We got there and unloaded the chairs, put up the umbrellas and pack n play for the babies, laid out the towels, and the event began. As I was reading my book the bees were out to get us. They were all over and Tarin got stung. A little while after that episode I see Aunt LeAnn on the ground swifting through the sand, she was looking for her wedding ring. Sooner or later everyone caught on and we were all on the ground swifting but no luck after 45 mins. Got a rake from the store but no luck. The wind started to blow really bad and both kids were crying. Mom took LeAnn to get a metal detector. Babies went home with my dad's cousins. Came back with the detector but no luck. After searching all day we had to give up. Headed back to the trailer for hamburgers and hot dogs. After that we were all wore out it was time for bed.

Tuesday: We went to the Pismo Pier and shopped in the stores up and down the main street. My family rented a 6 passenger bike and rode it around town. It was harder than it looks ha ha. We then headed over to the outlet malls for more shopping. After being all shopped out, we went back to the hotel for naps. Woke up and went to this Mexican restaurant on the beach and then headed to the trailer to visit. After listening to story after story about the "back whens.." we head back to the hotel for the night.

Wednesday: The girls met up at the famous Brad's (a restaurant) for breakfast. We always take at least one day trip to another town near by and this year we went to Solvang. It was a little dutch town. Every building resembled a cottage. Even the fire house. We went to the museum, ate carmel apples and ice cream, shopped, and went to the farmer's markets. I love farmer's markets. All the fruit tastes so different when they are fresh. After our mini trip we head back to the trailer for a HUGE tri-tip dinner. When I say huge I mean 17 lbs of tri-tip. There are a lot of us don't worry. So full we couldn't move we sat around and visited until it was time for bed. On this day we got a call from LeAnn...the life guard found her ring!!

Thursday: We made another attempt at the beach. This day was very relaxing. I finished my book, got a little bit of a sunburn, ate, and shopped. On our way back to the hotel I got out voted to stay another day. We were supposed to be home on Friday but instead we made it home on Saturday. I don't care for hotel rooms too much so I was mad just because I had to sleep there one more night. We were off to the famous Klondike. It is a pizza place under ground that we go to every year. Usually we go for my sister, Kalah's birthday because it always falls on that week. I got to put my business card up with all the others on the wall so we will see if it is there in a year. After pizza we headed to the campfire for another round of s'mores. We walked to the beach just in time to watch the sunset. It was amazing. Went back to the site until it got to cold. That ended that day.

Friday: Kalah's birthday. Got up and opened presents. The girls (my sisters, mom, aunt, and I) went back to the Pismo Pier and shopped. We met Dad and my cousin Mike for lunch at Brad's. My sisters and I went and got our nails and toes done. All of them turned out but we all got hurt by those asian ladies. Went to the fruit stand again for some ice cream and veggies for dinner. We had another tri-tip dinner. We played Yahtzee until it was time to go back to the hotel.

Saturday: We left Pismo @ 9am and didn't get home until 8 hours later. We stopped for lunch at Peggy Sue's Diner and gas. I am not sure why it took us so long to get home but it was a long ride. We were home at last.

A Weekend Full of Firsts

This past weekend I went to Utah with the Sedillo family. We had an awesome time just relaxing, playing games, four wheeling, and visiting. It seemed that most everything I did was for the very first time. It was the first time I:
*had been on a trip with the Sedillos
*had been to Josh's grandparents house in Utah
*had been to Modena (a old town where the train used to stop)
*played horse shoes
*beat Dave at a game 2 times in a row (I'll admit he won the 3rd one)
*had a tin foil dinner
*shot a shot gun (I missed the target. Opps!!)
*had drove a four wheeler
*had to drive a manual (the four wheeler)
*had my ears coned (that was so cool but so gross)
*had dutch oven potatoes (oh my gosh those were soooo good)
*had seen Jen cry (we waxed her and Connie's noses. She didn't really cry her eyes were just watering really bad)
We also played dominoes, watched Vantage Point, made s'mores (yummy), drove to the lake, and took naps. I can now vouch for how much the Sedillo family loves their naps. I am glad I could spend the weekend with them. Hopefully we will get to do it again sometime. (sorry there is no pictures I'm sure Jen will have some on hers)
A Day @ the Lake

On Thursday, Tarin and I went out to the lake with my grandparents for the first time on their new boat. We had woke up at 5:30 because they said they would be here at 6. At 5:45 the phone rang. They said that they had got a flat tire and were going to get it fixed but they would be over to get us later. 9:00 rolled around and they were finally at our house. We head out to the lake, unloaded the boat, and off we went. We had so much fun just driving around. It was surprisingly not that hot but it did get a little warm. We hopped in the water for a little swim. I decided I was going to try skiing. I tried probably 4 or 5 times and only got up once. I didn't stay up though because I got a little scared. After driving around a little longer we headed back because I had a client later that day. We had such a great time minus my arms being sore the next day!
